The beginning and extent of hair growth vary for the individual patients.
In general, treatment twice a day for 2 to 4 months is required before an effect is noticeable. To maintain the effect, it is recommended to continue the use twice a day continuously.
You will not achieve a better result if you use the preparation in larger quantities or more often. Sufficient clinical experience with regard to a possible therapeutic effect is available for a period of up to one year.
If there is no effect after 4 months, treatment should be stopped.
Notes on increased hair loss
When treating the hair follicles with the active ingredient minoxidil, the resting phase (telogen phase) of the hair cycle is shortened and the growth phase (anage phase) is reached faster. Thus, the growth of new hair is stimulated. These push the "old" no longer active hair out of the scalp. The impression of increased hair loss first arises.
This reaction was observed in some patients two to six weeks after starting treatment with the active substance minoxidil. However, this need not worry you, because this reaction is accompanied by increased regrowth of the hair. The effect decreases within a few weeks and can be a first sign of the minoxidil effect.
If you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you have used a larger amount than you should
Use at higher than recommended and on larger body surfaces or areas other than the scalp may lead to increased absorption of minoxidil into the body. No cases have been known so far in which the external use of minoxidil solution would have led to symptoms of poisoning.
After accidental swallowing, systemic effects can occur according to the pharmacological effect of the active ingredient of Minoxidil in this preparation. This can lead to the following side effects: accelerated heartbeat, lowering blood pressure, fluid accumulation and thus sudden weight gain, dizziness.
In case of accidental swallowing or signs of overdose, please contact a doctor immediately so that he can decide on the next steps. Please have the pack of the medicine ready so that the doctor can inform himself about the active ingredient absorbed.
If you have forgotten the application
Next time, do not apply about twice the amount, but continue the treatment with the recommended dose. Repeating the failure to use is not useful and could lead to undesirable effects.
If you cancel the application
If treatment is interrupted, a condition arises within 3 to 4 months that would have been achieved without therapy.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Always use this medicine exactly as described or exactly as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is:
Apply 1 ml of the preparation twice a day (morning and evening) to the affected areas in the tonsure area of the scalp.
The daily amount of 2 times 1 ml solution should not be exceeded, regardless of the size of the affected skin area.
Use in children and adolescents
The preparation should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age, as there are no efficacy and safety results from controlled clinical trials for this group of patients.
ROGAINE Men must not be used:
- if you are allergic to minoxidil or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- in women, due to occasional evidence of cosmetically disturbing reversible hair growth on the face during treatment

Interactions:
Use of the preparation together with other drugs.Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking / using, have recently taken / used, or may take / use any other medicines.
There are currently no indications of interactions with other agents. Although not clinically proven, there is a theoretical possibility that the active substance of the drug (minoxidil) ingested into the body could cause orthostatic hypotension (drop in blood pressure when changing from lying down to standing) in patients concomitantly taking peripheral vasodilators (certain vasodilators used to lower blood pressure) , can be amplified.
The medicinal product should not be used together with other dermatics (external preparations with active ingredients such as corticosteroids, retinoids, anthralin) or with agents that increase the absorption of active ingredients through the skin (skin absorption).
